The closest airport to Ulassai is Cagliari-Elmas Airport, about 120 km away. Once you land, you can take a bus or rent a car to continue to Ulassai.

If you prefer to travel by car, Ulassai is easily reachable via the SS125, which connects Cagliari to Ogliastra. The journey from Cagliari takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes, while from Nuoro about 40 minutes.

Stazione dell'arte

La Stazione dell’Arte is a contemporary art museum located in Ulassai, dedicated to the work of the artist Maria Lai. Inaugurated in 2006, the museum is housed in the premises of a former train station, a symbolic place that represents the link between art and community.
The museum exhibits over 140 works donated by Maria Lai, including sculptures, installations and textile works. La Stazione dell’Arte not only celebrates the work of Maria Lai, but also promotes cultural events, temporary exhibitions and educational activities, making it a point of reference for contemporary art in Sardinia.
Caves Su Marmuri

The Su Marmuri Caves are among the most impressive in Europe, stretching for about 850 meters with heights reaching 70 meters.
The caves are famous for their spectacular stalactite and stalagmite formations, as well as two suggestive underground lakes. The largest room, called the Sala Grande, extends for 72 meters. Other notable rooms include the Sala dell’Organo and the Sala del Cactus, characterized by formations that resemble an organ and a cactus respectively.
The caves can be visited from March/April until October, with guided tours that vary according to the season.
Camuc

CAMUC – Casa Museo Cannas is a multipurpose cultural center located in Ulassai. Inaugurated in 2021, the museum is housed in a historic building constructed in the early twentieth century.
The architectural complex is composed of a series of structures arranged around an internal courtyard, making it one of the most impressive buildings in Ulassai.
Today, CAMUC hosts exhibitions, conferences, workshops, laboratories and screenings, promoting contemporary arts and contributing to the cultural growth of the area.
Quad excursion

The quad excursion in Ulassai is an exciting experience that allows you to explore the uncontaminated nature of the Tacchi d'Ogliastra. Organized by Wild Ogliastra, this adventure takes you through off-road routes, among breathtaking landscapes, waterfalls and panoramic points at about 1000 meters above sea level. The excursion lasts about 3 hours and covers a route of about 35 km. It is an activity suitable for everyone, even those who have never driven a quad, thanks to the expert guide who will accompany you and provide you with all the necessary instructions.

In Ulassai there is the opportunity to go on bike excursions, thanks to Sardinia E-motion, which organizes guided e-bike and trekking tours. These tours allow you to explore uncontaminated nature, visit archaeological sites and immerse yourself in the local culture. The routes include stops at the famous Su Marmuri Caves and the Lequarci waterfalls, offering a unique experience among woods, panoramic points and ancient nuraghi. The excursions are suitable for all levels of experience, thanks to the use of electric bicycles that make the trip more accessible and enjoyable.
Cascate di Lequarci

Le Cascate di Lequarci, tra le più spettacolari della Sardegna, si trovano poco fuori dal centro di Ulassai. Durante i periodi di pioggia, le acque scendono impetuose da un imponente bastione calcareo, formando un fronte largo oltre settanta metri e dando vita a un panorama mozzafiato. Il fragore dell'acqua e la vista della natura incontaminata creano un’atmosfera magica, rendendo Lequarci una tappa imperdibile per chi visita l’Ogliastra. La Cooperativa Tessile Su Marmuri mantiene viva la tradizione tessile di Ulassai, intrecciando a mano tappeti, arazzi e opere d’arte ispirate alla cultura locale.
